Can HanesBrands Survive Under Debt Load?
Sara Lee is planning on spinning off its U.S. apparel division, which will be owned by HanesBrands, Inc., with an estimated 60 percent debt load. HanesBrands will borrow $2.6 billion to capitalize the firm, $2.4 billion of which will be paid in a one-time dividend. Morningstar Inc. analyst Greggory Warren raises concerns about the long-term viability of the company, given this large debt load.
