Contract Web Development Services

Contract Web Development specializes in Contract Services

Most of my work is with clients that need consulting on a single project or task. For corporations (such as Sara Lee, Pepsi, HanesBrands) I get called in for a project when their IT queue backlogs. That is, they have an IT department that typically takes care of their web development tasks, but during busy times the wait time for a delivery on their project may be a couple weeks. It is this type of situation where I receive a call as I can often finish the work in days, before the IT team even has a chance to see the project.

Search Marketing Consulting

Of late most of my work has been focused on Search Marketing Consulting. When I consult clients on search marketing I first sit down with them and discuss their needs. I then make appropriate suggestions for improvements, taking into account their budget.

What is the difference between SEO and SEM?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) are two entirely different beasts. SEO involves structuring a site's code (see my article on SEO Site Structure) so it is conducive to 1) being spidered and indexed in the search engines, and 2) supported by link popularity once that is built. SEM involves the actual marketing and advertising efforts that will drive traffic to the site and create repeat visitors. This involves an analysis of my client's company and industry to determine the market areas that can be targeted most efficiently, and from which a solid client base can be built with maximum applicability (relation to my client's product) that will achieve the highest number of conversions (customers that find what they are looking for and then purchase my clients 'products). This process involves many on- and offline marketing efforts, not the least of which involves building up my client's link popularity (LP).

What is Link Popularity (LP)?

Link Popularity (LP) determines how many sites are linking to my client's site. LP is determined not only on the quantity of links, but the quality of them as well. For example, a link from Ebay is going to carry a lot more weight than a link from Joe's Surf Shop. My SEM campaign not only builds link popularity but targets the links to my client's keyphrases so that the higher LP results in higher traffic as well (as opposed to gaining high search positions for keyphrases that no one searches for to begin with).

Google Rankings Changing

Visitor From Afar   |   Wed, 2006-12-20 08:59

I've been using your advice to optimize my site and build link popularity for one of my pages so I can send it up the Google charts. I finally got it up the charts, to #2 (sometimes #3), but was unable to crack #1. Nevertheless, I was happy with my position and the resulting traffic. Unfortunately, after 3 weeks I've completely dropped off the first 2 pages. What gives?

Frequent Updating

Alex   |   Wed, 2006-12-20 09:02

Hi there,

Thanks for your question. The key is frequent updating. I have the same problem - every now and then I'll fall off the first page for very important phrases (at times even "Contract Web Development"). The key is not only creating new content and establishing link popularity, but frequently updating that content. Google likes fresh content, keeping in mind that it should not renew at an artificially fast pace - but a post or so every week supporting that page's particular keyphrase should do the trick. Search my SEO and Search Marketing categories at left for more advice in this area.

Good luck! Laughing out loud
