TNBC (Thursday Night Beer Club) is a social networking group with a silly name. Founded in April 2004 by my girlfriend, TNBC is a way for members of the Winston Salem community to meet friends and get involved in local events (whether or not you like beer). The club began with a couple members and has grown to over 60 today. I took over the club's management in 2005 along with my co-moderator Derrick Yuen, of XotixCreations.com. The site is based on the Drupal CMS (Content Management System), running on mySQL, PHP, XHTML, and CSS. Databases, user management, and security were configured based on our groups' needs, and access privileges set up for various user roles. The site features a sophisticated restaurant review and voting system, synchronized with a calendar and event system to coordinate TNBC events. TNBC.net also features syndication, bookmarking, and tagging options, "printer friendly," "email to a friend" pages, instant messaging, email integration, real-time chat, and more. Finally, as with all my sites, TNBC.net has been optimized for maximum browser compatibility and adheres to XHTML/ CSS validation standards.
